Whitney M.
I have been passionate about creating art since I was young. I love all mediums - carpentry, woodworking, screen printing, photography, print making, painting, knife making, sculpture, wheel thrown functional pottery, drawing, collage and many more! As a returning student with more focus, stamina & drive now than as a younger person, I have been enjoying classes in the Fine Arts. When I began this process, I finally felt like I was home. I have begun to feel clear and certain for the first time as a young woman- about what I want to be involved in as a career for the rest of my life.
While I am a work in progress, my objectives remain clear & specific. I am pursuing a career in the Visual Arts where I can work with Autism/Spectrum Disorder clients, both Adolescents & Adults who have faced trauma, in an Art Therapy setting. Since September 2018, I have been working four days a week with a developmentally disabled young woman who loves expressive art projects. I have a combined strong dedication & interest in this field that began with this incredible person. Ultimately, I’m after a master’s degree in Fine Arts and licensure as an MFT. Art Therapy can provide and cultivate emotional resilience, enhance social skills, and reduce/ resolve conflicts or distress. Art Therapists work with people who are challenged with difficult mental health problems, as well as individuals seeking emotional, creative, spiritual growth.
