Michelle Buziak

Throughout my entire life I was blessed to have many inspiring educators and artists who wanted to help the people around them.  It is from their action in their communities I found inspiration to use art to educate and inspire. I did not find the career path of science illustration until I took a class taught by Professor Hudson at Savannah College of Art and Design. What really inspired me was a class field trip to his studio where he was practicing forensic reconstruction on a horse skeleton, he had cleaned himself. I had never seen something like this done on such a large scale before! He also had his previous works on display as well, including a reconstruction of a micro raptor skeleton. This field trip was one of the most life-changing experiences I had at my time at Savannah College of Art and Design.

After graduating with a BFA in Digital Art, I interned at University of Georgia in the Educational Resources department, creating visual learning aids for digital textbooks. To broaden my understanding of biology I studied at University of Illinois at Chicago before beginning my studies here at Monterey Bay.

I love and care greatly about the world around me and dedicating my art to educating the public—ensuring not only the wellbeing of the planet but of its people—is exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life.  What I want to do is create educational tools to the general public in a way that will unite all of us closer together. I believe I can help save lives by contributing to the resources available and expanding them.
