If you flip through a portfolio of my lifetime of artwork, you immediately see more than a natural progression of art skills. More than doodles in notebook margins, the detailed illustrations I had created for my high school biology journals turned out to be educational tools for taking complex science concepts and making them palatable to me as a student. Fast forward to today where I hold a fine arts degree in illustration from CSULB and I’m looking forward to beginning my post-baccalaureate studies in the science illustration certificate program at CSUMB.
I have kept my focus on building both my art skills and my scientific knowledge in natural science. The idea of making science more accessible to a variety of audiences appeals to me. It is my hope to work with scientists and educational experts to develop clear visuals for both scientific research and public outreach.
