Jacob Bettencourt
Since high school, I’ve involved myself in teaching and tutoring. I’ve spent nearly eight years helping educate students about science whether that be in my old middle school classroom for an afterschool club, or in a college lab setting filled with freshmen. As I pursued my BS in Biology, I learned of this field intertwining this role with art, another lifelong passion of mine.
Both science and art are used as mediums to comprehend a part of this world, no matter the scale. I find art to be a necessary conduit to propagate important and sometimes complicated ideas that science discovers. As an artist, I’ve grown to love a maximalist, sometimes colorful approach to creation, and am interested in portraying imperative topics of conservation and appreciation showcasing invertebrate and botanical subjects.
