Connie Speer

In a fast paced culture, it is easy to miss the beauty surrounding us. I experience serenity when I step outside, remove my headphones, and simply observe. Science Illustration allows me to witness what is often overlooked. Furthermore, it allows me to depict the intricacy of the Natural Sciences with others through visual breakdowns. The more I study Science Illustration, the more vibrant and curious the natural world becomes. For me, the CSUMB Science Illustration program is another step towards the individual I dream of becoming. I am
so ecstatic to discover new information about this curious world. I am eager to develop tools to help articulate what I learn. My heart is filled with gratitude for the Tentacles and Wings foundation. Their scholarship is helping turn my dreams into a reality. The assistance of this scholarship allows for levity while I work on paying for my education. Financial relief is critical. The scholarship allows me the time and space to solely focus on building my career as a Freelance Illustrator. I am honored by the help I receive to work towards my future. I am ecstatic to step into this next part of my journey. See more of Connie’s work here!
