Tentacles & Wings Celebrates Five Years and Giving Tuesday!
Tentacles & Wings is proudly celebrating its five-year milestone in supporting art students as they pursue their creative ambitions. Our primary mission is to expand access to Art education. Art has the power to transcend boundaries, foster understanding, and promote inclusivity. Marie's passion for drawing, literature, science, philosophy, and world religions stems from a profound sense of wonder and appreciation for the world's diversity.
Our vision of improving accessibility and increasing diversity in art classes aligns with the fundamental belief that everyone has a unique perspective to offer and the right to express themselves freely through creative pursuits.
Over the past five years, Tentacles & Wings has made significant contributions to support students' education through scholarships and funding for educational resources. Here's a summary of our impactful initiatives:
Scholarship Program
Tentacles & Wings has awarded 28 scholarships over the past five years, with a total value of nearly $20,000 to students in the Science Illustration Program at Cal State Monterey Bay. This program has provided crucial financial support to students pursuing their educational goals.
Marie Siegenthaler Memorial Lending Library
In addition to scholarships, Tentacles & Wings has invested close to $10,000 in the Marie Siegenthaler Memorial Lending Library at College of Marin. This funding has been used to:
Purchase equipment and supplies for student use during classes
Alleviate the financial burden on students by providing access to necessary materials
Support a more equitable learning environment by ensuring all students have access to required resources.

By combining direct financial aid through scholarships with support for shared educational resources, Tentacles & Wings has demonstrated a comprehensive approach to assisting students in their academic pursuits.

Continue and expand the scholarship program at Cal State Monterey Bay Science Illustration Program
Fund a second Marie's Lending Library for Science Illustration students at Cal State Monterey Bay
Expand the existing Lending Library at College of Marin to support Printmaking and Architecture programs
