Andreah Pierre
The last time I touched a paintbrush was in my sophomore year in high school, when I took an AP art course. After that, I put art to the side and focused on science, specifically marine science, because it was engrained in my head that art "could never be a feasible career choice". Thankfully, during the summer before my senior year of college, my mentor introduced me to scientific illustrations after I helped complete some Field Guides for marine mammal reporting in the Salish Sea. Since then, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life dedicated to teaching the public about the importance of our natural world and how to conserve it using illustrations. Being from Miami, FL and going to school in Sunny California, I have also had the privilege of leaving near the ocean and I have developed a special relationship when it comes to conserving our oceans and all its organisms. I can't wait to expand my knowledge on both art and science and combine the two so that everyone can learn and become a part of the solution to bettering our natural world. View Andreah’s art here.
